James Comet 98cc - 1949 - 343 UYS

Restoration

Total repaint and engine set up, leaked oil like any British bike, ran ok but handle bar gears was difficult to master

This is how the bike arrived in a hand painted odd brown purple colour and
registered with a 1964 registration number
I didn't come with an exhaust and the new one from Villiers fouled the main stand
Gentle sand blasted and resprayed using Rover spray can
On cleaning the rear number plate the original number can be seen
Headlight was hand painted black
Engine seemed ok, it runs but quite rough
Started polishing a few nuts and bolts
Rear brake not working even when adjusted properly
Incorrect springs fitted
basic air filter and reasonable chain
 Basic front suspension
Front brake does work
Painted risers and addition of a period horn
Rear sproket polished, rear brake linings fixed and hub pained
Not much to it when the tank and a few bits removed
Correct Springs fitted to the seat
Carb stripped and cleaned out
Start of the rebuild with paited guards and tool box
Painted headlight and front and rear plates
New registration after DVLA agreed old plate was illegal
Headlight rim painted silver as too damaged to rechrome
Repainted tank with Rover spray cans and new transfers
